Listen to and learn hundreds of bird songs and calls from across Canada, with up to 34 seconds of song for each bird, and alternative recordings for some birds.
Choose a province then sort the bird sounds in a variety of ways. Sort by song style to compare birds that hoot and coo, or those with high pitched songs for example, or, if you are a beginner, you might like to sort the birds by commonness, so you can listen to the most common ones first, then move on to less frequent backyard visitors. More advanced birders may like to listen to birds from a particular habitat, such as forest or freshwater. You can make lists of your favourites so that you can find them quickly.
Use the quiz to test your memory. Answer fast to earn a score multiplier and get on the high score table! Experienced birders can use the custom quiz to help distinguish and learn similar songs.
And when you need a rest, try the slideshow feature - choose which birds to include, maybe add background bird song, then simply relax. If you want to continue learning while you relax, switch the voiceover on and hear the name of the bird announced at the end of each clip. This is also a good way of competing with the family - who can say the name of the bird first?

Im an avid birdwatcher, and think it would be really cool to be one of those people who can identify any bird by their calls (not just the easy ones). This app is great for training for that. Lots of species (if not every species) and the quizzes are useful with multiple levels. Eventually I hope to be able to do the quizzes without even looking at the choices. For $3 this is great, although I wish they had some phonetic text too, to help me remember the calls.
Excellent audio quality...very useful app for us avian non-experts :)
This is a delightful app - the birdsongs are lovely. It is very easy to use, and such a treat to finally be able to match birdsongs with the actual birds. I must say it is greatly confusing my cat, though.
I love this app but, there are some birds missing. Like the finches and some others like the yellow bellied sapsucker. Overall it is a really good app and love it to pieces but, just a few are missing thats all
Excellent app- well priced for the content, compared to those $80 apps. Excellent sound quality with easy navigation. Lots of fun for obessed children- no better way to learn.
I really like this app but its missing the Western Meadowlark in Alberta. I had to change my region to Sask in order to hear the Meadowlark. It would be great if a person could pick more than one region at a time. If they lived close to the border, it would be beneficial to select 2 regions at a time. Also, I cant find the seagull anywhere. There are many seagulls everywhere. If the app were updated with peoples suggestions, I would definately give this app a 5 star rating.
Some bad moments
I just paid for this app and cant even use it. iPhone 5, iOS7, updated. It crashes immediately when trying to use the quiz, every time. I want my money back.
Maybe I was expecting too much. When the description said I would be able to identify bird calls, I thought I would be able to use my phone as a microphone and the app would identify the bird! Nope. You have to know the call and go through all the bird songs till you find the one that matches. If you just like listening to bird calls, you will like this app. It is nice the way they have the different calls categorized/ organized.
